About this blog

This blog was created to provide resources for Filipino teachers on Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) for Grades 1-6 under the new Matatag Curriculum. Follow this link to read more about the GMRC Curriculum - MATATAG Curriculum for GMRC and Values Education.

The law RA  11476 provides legal basis for the definition of Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC), it refers to certain and particular universally accepted basic social values and etiquette and/or proper modes of behavior that convey respect to those whom one interacts with.

The GMRC (Good Manners and Right Conduct) curriculum aims to inculcate patriotism, nationalism, respect for human rights, and love for humanity while fostering moral character, personal discipline, critical thinking, and civic involvement among grade school students. It emphasizes experiential and character-building activities like role-playing, community immersion, teacher-parent collaboration, and school-initiated values formation programs.

The curriculum is organized by grade levels, with topics ranging from self-care, empathy, respect for others, and honesty in early grades, to patriotism, human rights, ethical values, critical thinking, and civic responsibilities in higher grades. Teaching strategies include storytelling, role-playing, group discussions, project-based learning, and reflective writing. Activities like flag ceremonies, clean-up drives, community service, and cultural appreciation reinforce the lessons.

Assessment methods include observation, journals, project outputs, and group presentations. The program encourages holistic development, aiming to instill lifelong values and active citizenship in students.
